She Didn't Give Up!

My Sweet girl started this quilt several months ago.  It very trying at times for both her and I.  I think we are too much alike at times and kinda butt heads.  She doesn't like to hear instruction from her old mom, so I try to let her learn by doing.

There was a time at one of our family sewing weekends, where she even put the sewing needle completely through her finger!  Unfortunately, this was not her first time, but it will hopefully be the last.

Because of these reasons, I am super proud of this girl of mine for pushing on and finishing her very first quilt!  She should be proud of herself.  I told her that the blood stain will serve to remind her to never give up.

So she was off to bed tonight, all wrapped in her favorite new blanket.  Sweet dreams sweet one.

As for me this week, I finished the top of my king size quilt.  The more I added onto this quilt, the more overwhelmed I became at the size of it, now if only I can get through the quilting of her.

I would love to hear what you are working on now.  Please Link-Up Below.  Have a great weekend.

A Couple Homespun Twin Quilts Wrapped Up

I have shown in the past a little of the progress I was making as I worked with these quilts.  However, I almost forgot to share the finished product! I had a lot of fun making these, and hopefully they will keep these boys warm and cozy for many years to come!

Bench Seat, and Have a Latte

My Aunt had asked me about a year or so ago to make her some cushions for her bench seat.  I have to admit, I was very intimidated by this project, so I kinda sorta put the project off as long as she would let me.  A few weeks ago, when she asked me again, I knew I needed to get brave and give it a try.

There are a few imperfections that drive me crazy, but she was very pleased with the outcome.  It was my very first time making my own piping, and only my second time making a cushion of any sort, so overall, I was satisfied.

Of course, the throw pillows are my favorite part of the whole project!
And in other news, I recieved my "Have a Latte" fabric by Clothworks in the mail today!  I am trying to stay focused on finishing up the quilt I have going right now, but I keep glancing over at these adorable fabrics and yearning to get my hands on them!

I have to say that I was even more impressed with them when I saw them in person.  The colors are so vibrant!  Should be fun to work with.  Thanks to The Enchanted Room for fulfilling my order so quickly.

Believe me when I say the pictures don't do it justice!
Happy Monday!

Has Spring Really Sprung?

I was very happy to start my morning off with some deep dark egg yolks.  After a winter of taking it easy, my ladies have began to lay again.  I forget how different in color their yolks are, versus the eggs I buy at the store.
My apple trees and pear tree is pruned, my lawn is mowed, my peas are planted.  But one thing is making me worry, IT'S ONLY FEBRUARY!

I am concerned that we have cold weather lurking around the corner.  Waiting for things to blossom and then BAM!  I'm going to hold my breath and cross my fingers that I am wrong.

In other news, I just ordered my fabric for my very first blog hop.  This is very exciting for me, and I cannot wait to get started on my projects.  We will be using "Have a Latte" by Clothworks.    I cannot wait to see what wonderful creations everyone comes up with!  And with how much I love coffee, I could not have picked a better fabric to do my first hop with.
Sew we quilt
A special thanks to Maddam Samm at Sew we Quilt for putting on this hop.

I am off to sew, and hopefully enjoy some of our beautiful weather we are having!  It's supposed to be up to 55 today!  We all have spring fever.

Giveaway Winner

The day has come to announce the winner of my giveaway.  Once again, I am sorry for being a couple days late.  My mom runs a flower shop, so between trying to help her get through Valentines weekend, and kids' basketball, I was DONE!

But enough excuses, The big winner is:
Brittany with Pickles Quilting
You have won this Piggy Apron!

Now it's time to start another week.  I am hoping to get a couple of things wrapped up, so I can mark them off my list and feel a little less overwhelmed.  Good luck to all of you on your projects this week!

Friday Has Come Back Around

Friday has rolled around once again.  Today I am gearing up for a weekend of basketball, so that means I have to get as much done on my king size quilt top as I can!

But for now, I am linking up with Amanda at Crazy Mom Quilts for Finish it up Friday.  This week I got a lot accomplished, but not a lot completed.  All I have to show is a couple of aprons.  But hey, that's better than nothing, right?
A little girls apron with a sweet print.
Love the Cherries.  The lace gives it that vintage feel.
The whole KaBoodle.
I hope you all have a great weekend, I for one am going to try and stay dry, it has been very wet this week up here in Washington.  But hey, don't feel bad for me, I like the rain, it allows me to stay in and sew all day without feeling guilty!
Enjoy,

The Beginning of Another Quilt

Yesterday was the fun part, I went all by my lonesome (no kids!) to the fabric store.  So much inspiration can be found by just walking through the displays of fabric.  I had idea after idea popping into my head.  I refrained, however, from buying anything for myself.  I have a quilt to make for a lady in town, and some seat cushions for my aunt before I can have any fun buying things for myself.

Today I cut the fabric for the quilt into strips as well as got started on the cushions.  I hope to have a productive rest of the week.  I feel like I've gotten a good jump on these projects.
I think these fabrics go nice together, and can't wait to see the quilt start to come together.  Should be interesting.  This will be a king size quilt.  The biggest I've ever made!  Wish me luck.
