It's Finally Friday! - Petite Aprons

I feel very productive for this Finish it up Friday!  I completed two twin size quilts, and three aprons this week.  Not to mention I started painting my living room!  I hope that's not a three month long project!!!

So without further a do, here are the two little aprons I made.  They are petite little things, made to fit a two year old.

Thanks to Amanda at Crazy Mom Quilts for the link up.  I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Getting a Jump on Christmas

Today I feel very ahead of the ball game.  This is not a very common situation for me, so I am soaking it up tonight as I fold scraps.

My mom mentioned this year at Christmas that since she had our stockings made back in 1990 -something, our family has grown a ton!                             Every year she has to purchase a couple more, making them very hodge podge.  While we are usually very content with not matching, we thought it would be fun to make stockings that were at least all the same shape!                                    So today, my niece and my sister-in-law came over and we had some Christmas fun. It took us a little bit to draw up our pattern and figure out some sort of system, and then we hit the ground running.  By the time the kids got home from school, and we all ran of in our different directions to practices, we were able to                                         get a good jump on our socks.

After tallying up the current count of family members, we concluded that we still have a long way to go!  We have 11 of the 45 done.
We're not too upset though, that just means we have an excuse to get together and have a good day full of flying fabric, conversation, and laughter!  Oh that things we do for my mother!
I just love the print on this fabric!

Homespun. . . Basted

I

I was pleasantly surprised with the package of my backing fabric when I got home today!

I got right to work basting this baby up.  I am close to halfway done quilting it now, and hope to finish it this evening after my kids go to bed.  Then I will get right on it's twin.

I am using wool batting, which is a new toy for me, and I love how much loft it has in it.  It really shows your stitches well.
If you have never tried it, I suggest you give it a go.

A New Year, A New Project!

Well, the calender has turned, and the kids are back to school. That leaves me swamping out my house, and of course, starting new projects!

I am really excited about these homespun twin quilts that I am making for a gal in town.  The fabric choice is completely different than what I am drawn to in my usual fabric shopping, but the more I get to cutting on them, the more I am drawn to them and excited to see it all come together.  Do you ever start projects that are out of your box and you wonder if you'll like them?

This will be very simple block quilts, but sometimes simple is better.  I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Enjoy the day!
