Welcome Everyone!
Here is my take on a good old fashioned helping of carb goodness.
Feel free to let me know if you have any questions, or simply leave a short comment to let me know what you think of the recipe!
The following recipe fills a 9X13 baking dish.
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef 1/2 tsp. pepper
1 medium onion 3/4 tsp. oregano & basil
1 clove garlic 4 Tbl. butter
2 Tbl. chopped parsley 3 Tbl. flour
1 large can crushed tomatoes 2 cups milk
1 can tomato paste 1 cup parmesan cheese
2 bay leaves 2 egg yolks
1 1/4 tsp. salt 8 oz. lasagna noodles
In a large frying pan, brown the beef until crumbly. Add onion, garlic and parsley. Cook for 5 minutes.
Add tomatoes, tomato paste, bay leaves, 1 tsp. salt, pepper, oregano, and basil.
Cover and simmer 45 minutes.
In a saucepan, melt butter.
Whisk flour into the melted butter.
Slowly whisk in milk. Stir until boiling.
Remove from heat, add parmesan cheese, egg yolks, and 1/4 tsp. salt.
Cook lasagna noodles according to package.
Now it's time to assemble!
Start by making a thin layer of sauce on the bottom of the pan. This will keep everything from sticking.
Next, layer noodles.
More red sauce.
Then a layer of the cheese sauce.
Repeat last three layers three times.
Top with a little mozzarella cheese if desired.
Bake at 325 degrees for 25 minutes.
Let me know what you think after you try this recipe, or if you have any questions. I always love to have the leftovers, I think it tastes even better on day two!!!
Enjoy!
